A haiku is a sort of Japanese poetry--perhaps the smallest literary form--composed of three lines and seventeen or fewer syllables. The subject of a haiku is usually something experienced in everyday life--the pinning of a moment that might seem ordinary but which captures a bit of awe in the noticing.
